The shape of the Volar Distal Radius Locking Plate is precisely designed to closely match the anatomical contours of the distal radius, providing the surgeon with maximum flexibility. The distal radius plate is typically placed on the volar or dorsal side. The distal screw holes in the volar plate allow screws to diverge toward the joint at varying angles and lengths, effectively supporting the articular surface fragments. This provides "arched" support for comminuted intra-articular fracture fragments, effectively preventing articular surface collapse and providing optimal fixation for complex fractures.
